When mullite granules are used, the product boasts excellent thermal shock resistance, albeit with moderate erosion resistance. On the other hand, utilizing corundum sand as the aggregate imparts superior corrosion resistance to the saggars.

It serves as the superstructure for the regenerator in glass furnaces and acts as the lining brick for metallurgy kilns and carbon reaction furnaces.
